Physical pain and emotional stress are closely linked but the unfortunate truth is that many people do not make the connection between these two things and therefore struggle to treat or manage the symptoms of both.
Pain is a sensation experienced when a signal is sent via nerve fibres to the brain for interpretation. Pain is also subjective in that everyone experiences pain differently and for that reason, it’s a difficult thing to treat.
However, everyone understands what pain is, but the important thing is knowing what to do and what not to do when you experience pain. The most important thing anyone can do is listen to their body when they are in pain and to allow some time for rest and rehabilitation.
A common mistake that many people make is to continue exercising and pushing themselves physically when they are in pain.
Whether it’s emotional stress, physical trauma, or old an old injury that is causing your pain, you should treat your body with enough kindness to give it the chance to heal. This can be done by resting instead of exercising through the pain and using Body Stress Release as a form of therapy.
Body Stress Release has been used for many years as a gentle, non-invasive, and effective method for managing pain caused by various kinds of physical and emotional stress.
When my clients come to me for pain management but explain that they are still placing their bodies under pressure by exercising and doing other physically demanding activities.
My favourite example to use is this one: if you are hiking on a mountain and you twist your ankle – it’s swollen, bruised, and too painful to walk on – you won’t continue hiking every day for the next few weeks. Naturally, you would rather take the weight off your foot by using crutches, you will rest and elevate your foot, and you will add cold compressions until your ankle has healed.
The same rule applies when we have a buildup of emotional stress that results in muscular pain. In the world of Body Stress Release, we don’t encourage clients to carry on exercising, stretching, and pushing through the pain. Instead, we encourage rest and rehabilitation because the sooner you rest and rehabilitate, the sooner you can get back to your normal daily activities.
Using Body Stress Release as a form of pain management and rehabilitation has proven to provide exceptional relief. If you are feeling overwhelmed by emotional stress and have now started experiencing physical pain as a manifestation, it may be time to book an appointment with me.
